A home office and guest suite addition to a single family residence located on a tiered parcel in Los Angeles. The addition is composed of a single bar equal in length and oriented parallel to the existing residence. The bar is then inserted on the lower tier of the property, rendering it invisible from the primary residence. The roof of the addition becomes an extension of the public areas of the main house and creates an outdoor terrace for entertaining. The presence of the addition is revealed only upon descent to the lower tier where the guest suite and office open onto a lushly planted garden containing a spa and swimming pool.
